Swaping 2.9 Heads?

I am putting some new heads on my 2.9 and think that I have the head gaskets mixed up. I am used to working on motorcycles, so when you say left side of the engine that would be when you are sitting on it. Is it the same with cars? One head Gasket has a tab that sticks out, that one should and engages the intake manifold gasket, that tab is in the rear , so i assume it is wrong. Since the slot it is suppposed to engage is in the front of the motor. Other than that tab, are there other differences in the head gaskets? (Do I have install new gaskets, or can I just cut the tab?) Also I am using some aftermarket gaskets (don't have the name handy) and noticed that it seems that the intake manifold gasket doesn't line up like I think it should at the front and rear. Am I missing something like a rubber insert for the gasket or something. If I use it as is, it will leak in the front and back where it meets the block. The intake Gasket Kit came with a piece of cork, what is that for? I am feeling pretty stupid since I am an ace with motorcycles, first car motor I have ever worked on.
Anyway some quick advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Barry
