Wiring colour differences between original and Dennis Carpenter
Hello everyone,
i still have some issues with my horn wiring and brake lights wiring. I put a new turnsignal switch in my 1966 Ford F100 that i bought by Vintage parts of Arizona. I think its a turnsignal switch from Dennis Carpenter. Now the colours dont match with the original Ford colours. Both turn signal and the hazard flasher are working also the hazard flasher use as a indicator light both turn signal indicator lights in the speedo. I was trying to connect the one lose end what come from the brake light switch and to the wiring harness that come from the turnsignal switch wiring but than its only the turnsignal in the back of the driverside is flashing and it doesnt matter with which cable i connect it.
I think the hazard flasher came sometimes later inside. But it looks like a original one.
With my Horn, it is function when i hook it direct to the battery. But i have a new horn relay and the relay itself makes no sound like that clack sound that it should do.
I hope someone in this group has a clou
Lots of greetings Alexander
As far as your horn relay - I made a video and posted it on YouTube of how to test the horn relay out of circuit. You can hear the relay click when I push the small pushbutton simulating pressing the horn button. And, of course, the voltage reading changes while I hold the switch down. If your new relay doesn't behave like that then I'd suspect it is bad. Not uncommon these days to have to go through a few to find a good one.
Here is a scribble I made a long time ago it might help a little. There is only one turn indicator light on the dash the one on the right side the one the left is the high beam indicator light. The wire colors are different on the switch and the harness.
