2001 F550 motor home transmission
I have a 2001 f550 36 foot RV with a bad transmission. I want to swap it but I'm confused what vehicle I can pull from. The engine is a 6.8L V10. It has the e-brake at the back of the transmission so I think that means I need a transmission off a 4x4. Can someone please confirm for me that I can take from any V10 4x4 1999-2003. My RV might be a f53 but I honestly don't know if it is or what the difference is.

You can use any late '99-'04 6.8L 4x4 transmission. The early '99 was different. The easy way to tell them apart is that the late '99 has a speed sensor on top, just behind the bellhousing.
The same trans from a 5.4L will bolt in, but has less clutch plates and won't last long behind a 6.8L.
