99 Eddie Bauer air suspension& factory amp questions
This is my first post on this site, so go easy on me, okay?😏
I just bought a 99 expedition EB with 300,000 on her but she runs strong. Picked it up for $200 so obviously there's gonna be some issues.
The truck is sagging so much that the tires are practically touching the fenders. I hear the compressor turn on shortly after I turn the truck on and then the compressor will intermittently come on while driving for anywhere from 10-45 seconds. It also turned on after I shut the truck off and had been sitting for about 10 minutes.
But, nothing is happening when the compressor turns on. There's no difference in ride height and from what I can tell so far, there is no air leaving the compressor.
How should I start going about figuring out the issue?
Also, I have a pioneer stereo that I want to replace the stock radio with but, I've heard that there is a factory amp installed in the truck and it sometimes can be difficult to install aftermarket parts because of it?
I don't know anything about that set up but I figured I would try to get some info from you guys before I go about tackling something that might take more patience than I have for wiring jobs lol.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to being a part of a community that drives the best made vehicle out there.😉
Delete the airide. Disable the pump. The repairs to maintain the feature are not worth it. It's a decent truck so some bucks into it won't be wasted.
I got another question.
I was driving today and noticed that the truck shakes pretty bad once I get up to speed. Then if I step on the gas or let off of the gas, it stops shaking until I'm maintaining speed, and then it goes right back to shaking.
It's not throwing any misfire codes but I randomly decided to turn the overdrive off, and that seemed to have helped quite a bit.
It is throwing a handful of codes.🙄

mind you, it was sitting for 8 months before I bought it and I have no prior repair history for it.
I'm taking today to really do a once over on her and see what I really got myself into lol.😅
I really appreciate the help and advice. It means a lot. So, thank you!!
P0325 is for knock, I would start there. P0402 is EGR meh. No clue on others, piles of body codes probably for the dead air ride. No idea on the thousand series P codes, sorry.
Change the coolant and oil, do that 'P' shaped gasket at oil filter housing while all open. Trans. Diff. Etc
