Do you have the 4.0L V6 or the 4.6L V8 engine? If you have the V6 you should temporarily jumper pins 10 and 12 on the Digital Transmission Range Sensor. But what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you able to shift the transmission through the gears and unlock the steering wheel? Have you tried shifting to neutral to see if the engine will start in Neutral? It seems unlikely both switch positions would fail at the same time. Have you inspected the wiring at the DTRS to make sure power is getting to pin 10 of the DTRS with the key in the Start position and to the starter relay terminal 86? If it is, then is the PCM providing a ground to starter relay terminal 85 when trying to start the truck? If not, then there's either an input to or an issue with the PCM that is causing it to not allow the starter relay to close.

Rod.great imfo.i definitely saved it for future. I was just trying to get it started to put it in the shop to work on it.(Snow and cold here). I finally got it started by holding the key in the crank position, while moving the shifter through the gears. I changed the neutral safety switch, but couldn't get it adjusted right. Found that the inner plastic shield on the cable was broken, allowing the cable to flex. Have a new 1 coming. Thanks again.. Joe.
