08 explorer 4.6l cables crossed when jump starting

08 explorer 4.6l cables crossed when jump starting
Saw an add for a 2008 explorer 4.6l. Add said when it was being jumped the person hooked up the cables wrong and now won’t start. Don’t know if that means it doesn’t crank or cranks but no start. Could that potentially fry the pcm or just blow a fuse in the power distribution fuse box? Sorry for lack of details. Thank you

There's often a reverse polarity protection diode that is sacrificial in situations like this and if should blow a fuse before causing damage down stream. I don't have the service manuals in front of me to confirm that's the case with the 2008. If there isn't a sacrificial diode in or near the fuse panel, there most likely will be one inside the PCM that hopefully protected the PCM other than the diode.
