Trying to find out 1949 VIN
I've been searching around google and this forum was one of the places with the most info, I've found images of decoders from those years and everything but I'm still having issues because it doesn't match up, so much that I'm thinking maybe there is something wrong with the purchase I made and I should try to back out before trying to ship it to myself in another country and possibly have it decomissioned by customs in the US before it even ships out? Guess that's possible no?
Anyways, the VIN is 97HC170125 but I looked it up online and it comes out as a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 but if I only look up 97HC it does show a 1949 F1.
The last bit of info I found which sounds correct but I'm not sure is this:
"97HC is an f1 6 cyl 6 digit production number is what shows on the sn code breakdown I have."
"Sorry the 9 is 1949. 7H is 6 cyl an 8R would be the 8 cyl c is 1/2 ton the last digits are the sequence number. On my phone so sorry the first one was cut short."
and
"You are correct about it being a 49, but it is NOT the 9 that determines that, 9HC indicates the 6 cylinder 1/2 ton F-1. The 7 indicates 49-early 50, however the serial number being under 101,000 would indicate 1949.
97HC (under 1001,) = 1949
97HC (higher than 101,000) = early 1950
98HC = late 1950
7HC would be a 1947 6 cylinder 1/2 ton"
I am attaching everything I found but I am honestly still a bit confused and would appreciate if someone with the knowledge and experience would clarify it a bit more? or confirm what that post text I found above this says.
9=1949-1950 production.
7H=226 6 cylinder engine
C=F1 half ton pickup
170125=consecutive unit number, likely built late 1949.
You should also be able to find a series of numbers and letters hand stamped across the top of the firewall. That would be your production code, which would include the code for the assembly plant, color code, and month and day of assembly. If you can find and post those, and a picture would be great because sometimes they don't always look like what they really are, we can decode that for you further. Here's some examples.

The car was restored using part from other cars, the suspension is from a mustang, a 350 chevy v8 for engine, 700r4 transmission so there are no stamped codes anywhere. It has one of those eBay vanity VIN plates with the one I submitted which is the one registered on the title and shows up online but I just have no way to verify that from where I am so finding out if this was a correct serial number was one of my biggest worries. I still think I would have issues having it shipped to myself in Central America because there has to be a serial number on the chassis somewhere for it to be imported/registered for the first time legally.
