HELLO ALL ,
I NEED HELP. I HAVE A 1955 FORD F-100 WITH A 223 STRAIGHT SIX. I CANNOT GET MY OIL FILTER CANISTER TO STOP LOOSEING UP. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING. ANY THOUGHTS.
hello 49er ,
i have changed the gaskets twice. the canister bolt keeps backing out and the oil flows out. took it over to Todd Hunter he is going to try to fix it for me. i dont have any pictures of the engine i can send on friday
Have you tried wrapping the bolt with Teflon tape?
No no no! That typical product is simply for easier environments such as household plumbing and air lines and whatnot. Not for fuel or oil use as it will break the tape down and cause particles to enter the system (undesirable!). A paste such as gasoila that is formulated for sealing those specific fluid lines would be appropriate, but is more geared towards preventing leaks rather than retaining fasteners.
Hopefully they have all the components, including the EAA-6741-A washer/gasket? Has the B2A-6741-A bolt gotten stretched out? Has the threads of the EAA-6890-C fitting worn out?
Ok this may sound really stupid but, are the threads still set up well? Sounds like if vibration is loosing it up the threads may not be as sharp as they should be? I assume you tried other filters and such?
@DieselDog409 , loctite is a brand name covering products of wide ranges from adhesives, sealants, thread lockers etc. Which specific thread lock product (item number) of theirs are you recommending that is highly oil tolerant, not permanent, and doesn't require heat or excessive force for removal?
