I went to the Fall Carlisle show this weekend, not looking for anything in particular except to buy some single stage urethane paint at a discount. I spotted this NOS short bed style-side utility box and picked it up for 2 bills. It came with all the hardware and the gasket. The instructions are in pretty bad shape, but I don't really need them anyway.
This will go in my short bed Ranger clone. I can't decide what base color to go with; Rangoon Red or Marlin Blue. Either way the interior will be Sahara beige.
Here's a pic of a decent instruction sheet - tool compartment that was optionally installed in front of passengers side rear tire in the bed side. 1964 to 1966 F100/250 2WD and 1966 F100 4WD - short and long styleside beds. Short beds used a smaller version of the box as seen in the pic above from Larry (great find). Not installed in any vehicles with a "wrong bed" or a Flareside, of course.
In this post are pics of the larger box used in the longer 8' bed. I have tool compartments in both sizes that I'll have to get side-by-side pics of to show the size difference.
I will always be surprised by the parts folks find when they aren't especially looking for them. lol Sweet deal!
True, but you have to always be on the lookout. This was the last Carlisle swap meet of the year and there were more Chevy parts than anything else, but as soon as I saw it I knew what it was and I grabbed it.
