So the horn doesn’t work... you press the horn ring and nothing happens. I noticed though there is a momentary push button switch someone put in the dash. It has a single wiring going to this. What the heck is this? Could this be a horn? When you press the button in the dash, whatever this thing makes a very faint awful sound. I’ve never seen anything like this before. I briefly looked around for an actual horn behind the grill in the usual horn spot. This thing is mounted on the inner fender right next to the window washer bag. It looks like a motor to me, and so I’m thinking maybe it’s the window squirter motor?
In any case, where would I find the horns so that I can check the wiring? Does the switch under the horn ring normally go bad? And how do you remove the horn ring? The turn signals work but don’t cancel, so I’m thinking there may be all kinds of nonsense going on under the horn ring.
Thats a washer pump. The button in the dash above the key operates it. To remove the horn on the wheel push down and turn counter clockwise. You will need to pull the steering wheel to get to the turn signals.
Your picture is a washer motor. Your description sounds like the button you push to operate the washer motor. Do you have a picture of the dash button?
If the washer pump motor is all you need to get them working, NOS ones come up regularly on eBay at reasonable prices, and are guaranteed to last longer than the reproduction Chinese ones.
At approx. 7 o'clock on the outside of the steering wheel, visible when the horn button or ring is removed...is a hole that the horn brush and insulator fit into.
The brush contains a thin copper wire that snaps. It's available from all the repro parts sellers and was used 1961/70: C2OZ-13A821-A
