I'm having sporadic issues when shifting from 1st to 2nd... (3 on tree)... It sometimes gets stuck in-between shifts... I have to pull over to almost a full stop, drop it in first again and start over... I tried to double clutch it when this happens but it doesn't seem to help... If I shift it really slow and at a really slow speed it tends to work okay... Can anyone offer suggestion's on what to look for?? Thanks in advance!!
check to see if linkages are loose and worn. when I test drove my 65 I could no get it into 2nd. Owner open hood tapped on linkage and it worked. I had to rebuild them. Easy to do, but that was the issue. sloppy linkage
I had much the same issue. Replaced the lever isolation bushing and linkage bushings (2) and lubed the linkage (there is a grease zerk toward the bottom of the steering collum). Works properly now.
Guys, thanks for the help! I'm going to dive into all these tips and start working it... The shifting issue between 1st and 2nd seems to be getting worse so it's time!! Thanks a bunch!!
New bushings ordered... (in case anybody else wants the link).... 9 bucks for the part, 10 bucks for the shipping!! lol....

I looked for a grease fitting with no luck?? I'll check again...
I have the same issue with my 65. If I am not careful I’ll stick the transmission when shifting from first to second.
i took a picture of my my shifting rods. I noticed my first/reverse rod is lacking what appears to be a bushings when comparing it to my second/third rod. Am I correct, or is this actually ok?
Fathump, I'm no expert (far from it) but my guess is the problem is with bushings on top... I ordered new ones yesterday so once I get them installed I'll report back... That said, when I can I'll take a better look at what have below and let you know.
