72 2WD, FE C6 with short tailshaft, 2pc driveshaft
I pulled and sold motor/trans but need the vertical measurement of the transmission from the mounting flange to the trans oil pan. I have a picture (guess it is about 1.5") but would like a real measurement if someone can get it for me, thanks!
I am installing a 460/c6/NP205. The transfer case adapter has the mount at a different location, down further level with trans oil pan. The goal is to build a trans cross member that allows the cab to fit....
Smoky:
The transmission oil pan has a slight slope from front to back. If I put the square perpendicular to the bellhousing (parallel to the long axis of the trans), the measurement at the mount is 4.25". See the first two photos. If I lay the square on the pan, the measurement is 2" exactly. See the second two photos. In the second case the straight line, though, is angling up towards the tailshaft slightly. Hope that makes sense. That's without the transmission mount installed. If you need a different measurement, let me know.
Hi resonatuer,
Thanks for the measurements, it is very helpful!!
Can you also measure from the bottom machine surface of the transmission case (were the pan gasket is) to the mount flange too?
People like you taking the time to help other is what makes this site great. thanks again.

Justin...running a straight edge across the pan sealing surface on the trans case...sits 1 1/8" below the transmission mounting surface (as shown in the photos). The pan tapers from 1 3/4 " at the front to 1" at the rear.

Thanks again, that's what I needed! Really appreciate it.
