Wow, rain in the summer. I wish it would rain over those fires.

Thanks Jim for starting the August thread.

Hey everyone,
How do you like the triple digit weather? I used to like it but as I'm getting older, I think I'll stick with the dbl digits between 65* - 95*.
I've been looking for FT work (anywhere from Silver Springs to Carson City.) No luck as of yet, so I've found some odd jobs working for people in my area. I'll be doing major house cleaning for a guy where we got our new Pomeranian from down the street. I'm starting tomorrow until whenever. And I thought our house was bad... his house is nasty! He really needs to have his recent exwife & kids come get the rest of thier stuff & also train his animals to use the puppy pads or go outside. His place makes my house look like a sterile hospital in comparison!! Anyone have a Hazmat Suit I can borrow? Just kidding, but I'll definately be wearing my PPE - gloves, mask & eye protection! It'll take me the entire weekend (or longer) to get it done. Atleast i'll be working inside with AC. I'm dreading having to do his yard next. Oh well, atleast it's $$$ to help pay the rent & bills.
Well, that's my excitement for the next week.
What upcoming plans do you have?

Hit more rain today coming out of Gabbs. Hard rain. Enough that I had to use AWD. the water on the road was 2-3" deep.
Glad to hear from you Donna.

I didn't know Ford Galixies had AWD. LOL I have no plans for the weekend except to stay indoors and turn on the AC when it gets too hot inside.

I remember many moons ago, while working security, one of the retired officers had a Ford LTD 69-70 I think. And it looked like it was brand new. He told me once that he makes trips out to Vegas every month or so, and if he wins a decent amount, he spends it on his car. So naturally over the years he had been able to keep it well maintained. I was not a Ford fan back then (preferring the Mopar camp until Plymouth was closed down) however, I still appreciated other makes, especially the ones done right.

I was a big Ford Truck fan for years. The only Ford trucks we have had any luck with were Rangers.
After the 95 F150 4x4 that ended my Ford truck fan-ship. That's two reasons we bought a new Chevy. One was the dealer, the local Ford dealer is an as-. Two was we have just had it with Fords. I have been a member here since 2003 a Ford fan up until about a year ago.

I have had my Thunderbird for only 2 years now, but still love it. Sure it has its share of problems, but it is 22 years old. And the problems it has now are due to lack of funds to keep it maintained. Something that will change here in a month or two when I can get the credit cards paid down some. As for the Ranger, the last (and only) one I had was a PITA. I could never get it to run right. Although in all honest, it had sat for 10 years before I bought it, and back then I was working part time at a fast food place, so again, the lack of money did not help it. I would still buy another one, but a little newer, and I will wait until I can afford to keep it up before I make the plunge.

Evening guys and gals.

I grew up in a Ford family. Cheby and I have never gotten along well. I feel I could take a brand new cheby off the lot and break down withing 15 miles.
That is how they treat me, so I avoid them.
I do like Jeep as you all know, but hey, the first Jeep was made by Ford!

I like Jeep as well. I loved the 1990 Cherokee I had. However, if I do buy a 4x4 in the future it will probably be a 1992 Ranger. Maybe an Explorer of that era also. Depends on what I can find when the bug hits me again. LOL

We had an 88 T-Bird 302HO. It was a nice car with no issues. We had a 98 Jeep Limited 5.9. It was a good SUV. I took out the 349 T-Case and sold it. Jeeps have a lot of little issues like Fords. I worked for the largest Jeep Dealership in the Country in the 70s. Jeep was cutting edge with vacuum 4x4 switch, but a lot of small issues. in those days Jeep engines were interesting. When the Pacer came out with a 258 CI 6 cyl. They came from the factory with what was called rainbow cranks. Bearing sizes differed by journals. So you had to measure ever journal and order bears in different sizes. I saw one crank with 3 different bearing sizes.

The only thing I know about the Pacer, is that it was originally supposed to be equipped with the rotary engine. However GM scrapped the plans for the engine, so they had to find something else to use.
