No "Dukes of Hazard" Turbines. Some Kinda stock rims w/ bias ply tires
You guys did not give me very positive feedback when I asked about the turbine rims I could have gotten. After giving it some More consideration I finally let go of that lame idea, so I painted up the rims that these old bias ply tires came on and am using them, (I painted them black). Last 3 pics in my gallery show them. (sorry there not clearer)
All I can say is when your right your right! Even without hubcaps ( Don't have any, and may keep it that way), I think it looks great. It really has that old working truck look now. And I got rid of the last of the white outside.
I will likely keep these for awhile while I focus on other things, (like rebuilding the motor, Etc.) My question is what are these rims off of? could they work as stockers on Brutus? and even if not actual stockers How do they look? will they get by as stockers. and what if anything could I or should I change? I need feedback please, Good or Bad.

Chrome smoothies are alright, but... then there's the problem of having to polish the chrome all the time. I like the painted smoothies with the little ss caps and beauty rings the best! (check out my gallery) I just wipe them off once in a while and I'm ready to go. I guess fenders just has a lot more free time for polishing than I do. The black looks great, but just think how awesome a set of the small center caps would look on them. They would really stand out against the black rims. Wow, I gotta go, I'm getting all worked up! Good luck, John

Actually that is what I meant. These trucks look good with any variation of a smoothy. Or almost any custom wheel that isn't way out of style for that matter. I haven't found a rim yet that doesn't require some degree of maintenance to keep it looking purty.

Very nice! The black color is original to the 60 f-250+ trucks. The black rims should stay nice and clean or at least from the brake dust. I need to get some pics up of mine painted up white with the redone original caps(it looks so much better!), with the white rims, brake dust is always a problem. Keep up the work! -4speed

You guys are not going to believe this, but I just did a Google search using the phrase "cootie-bob". FTE is now officially the "cootie-bob" capital of the Internet. Your thread is the first one on the list of three results. Way to go boys.

Just what is a smoothy? You probably cant tell from my pics but I was thinking that the rear rims may be some sort of smoothy (no slots). I was hoping to find some like it for the front and maybe some caps? but just not a priority now. I'm suprised that it drives so good with these big old Bias ply tires. I kinda like them. I'm trying to as much as possible make Brutus the " Anti-Cootie Bob. It will be hard cause I'm always coming across Cootie Bob stuff cheap. Damn the luck.

Smoothies are a steel wheel with no holes and slightly raised ring on the inside just on thwe edge of the inside mount cap. They can be chromed, painted, or what ever your desire. Technically, since mine don't have the raised edge, they are called "solids." Most people can not point to the difference. I like the look and I like having no holes for brake dust to come through. Thanks John
COOL! Now I know, I have a set of solids or smoothies, On the rear. I'm half way there. And it seems I am the same as most people, I'm not sure which ones they are. But it don't matter I like them no matter which. Now just gotta find two for the front, and caps. I will decide whether to chrome or keep black later, Kinda like the Knarly look as is, Its new for me now, but I'm sure that will change.
Hey Larry, I forgot one thing. Brutus will need a matched set for the front if you go hub caps. For some reason smoothies and solids have slightly different sizes on there caps. John
Plain steel rims can look so good on the right car or truck and better with the right dress up parts. On my 56, I have Chevy rallye wheels. I hated looking at the "top hat" center cap. Finally I found mini moon center caps that fit, painted the rims hammered steel dark grey and they look super and almost match the old smoothies with Ford script center caps in the back.
If you want to get dress-up pieces for your wheels check out Wheel Vintiques. They carry caps (some in the same styles) for many wheels.
i also have the "dukes" wheels on my 55 that came off my 79. i took acid and a wire brish to them and repainted the middle area. i have seen these lookin real good with a set of white letters and a variation from black to color in the inserts of the rim. i lightly dusted them with wheel clearcoat and keep them clean and free of acid. seen them looking smooth with a simple sand blast too or polish job. i think they dont get enough credit, especially as more of us build them effies and try to tell them apart. i must admit the rim doesnt look as good on everything like a craeger or moon
Hold on to them "Duke Wheels". Rims are a lot like women's clothes. Hold on to them, they'll be back in style and just maybe you can get your butt back in them. And maybe not.
