Grant Miller owns the Central PA Auto auction. They sell cars to dealers every Thursday. Once a year he holds an antique and classic auction. There were beautiful cars and trucks on the auction block: mid fifty tri-5 Chevys, Vettes, T-birds, Fairlanes, GTOs, old antiques and on and on and on!
I took pictures of cars and trucks my fellow FTEers would be interested in. I'll post pics over the next couple of days.
I'll start with, you guessed it, a Meadow Green slant cab.
It was pretty nice but had some obvious flaws which you'll see in the next pictures.
The headliner was screwed in place. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Grille of recirculating heater painted black.
Why are there screws in the cowl vent?
It was in the sold lot. As I was looking at it a guy walks up and looks at it. I ask him if he knows what it went for. He said, $17000. I said that it's nice but not that nice, it got some problems. He said "Well I bought it!" I felt foolish! I said are you keeping it or reselling it? He said, reselling it and that made me feel a little better.
He said he had fixed up 48 to 52 Ford trucks but never any 53 to 56 trucks. He asked me what things are wrong with it. And so, I pointed out some things for him, like the things pictured above and the tailgate chains, the sunvisor, it was missing the dots in the hood side emblem, the light green grille color, the rubber grommets that fill the dome light switch hole, etc. He asked if Carpenter reproduces parts for this model. I told him yes, but also told him about MidFifty.
Dave (55 F350) and John (56 PanelFord) this 53 was missing that rubber piece that goes from the gravel pan to the radiator. But there were 4 Staples still stuck in the gravel pan. John, you were right again!
Thanks for sharing Joe. Funny thing about my rubber seal, there was no holes in the rubber or Staples in the gravel pan.. I look forward to the updates.

This Abe speaking. Joe is in Branson!
You know what.... the rubber piece on my 55 is lying there loose and I have not seen any holes in the rubber nor Staples in the gravel pan. I'll look more closely tomorrow.
Sorry Abe! It was late and the ole brain wasn't running at full speed Are you looking to add to your fleet? I think you need one for each day of the week

No, no, no. I was just looking at all these great cars. And for sure that 53 wasn't worth $17,000! That makes the green 53 on ebay look like a bargain.
