MY truck starts and drives fine for 10 or so minutes then starts to sputter and turns off and dies. I can restart a couple minutes later then dies again 100 meters down and thereafter repeatedly does this. I leave it for a while and it will start up and drive no problem then happen again
Could this be a fuel issue, maybe the carb filter or a distributor condenser overheating?
Prolly got sediment in the fuel tank plugging up the intake. Then when all is calm, the sediment falls off and sinks to the bottom. As soon as the truck gets jostled again, the cycle repeats.
Drain, flush, and refill the fuel tank.
Blow out the fuel lines.
Temporarily install see-through inline filters to monitor the situation.
If there IS a points & condenser ignition, and by 1974 I'm not too sure - and, the condenser is one of the recently manufactured drug store types - that could be the problem. Put the old one back in.
