Cab swap info
I have two trucks, both 78, SC, 8' boxes. one is 4x2, one 4x4. I want to put the cab, box etc from the 4x2 on the 4x4. Are the mounts, steering column position, wiring etc the same? Transfer case shifter hole? Anything else I am missing?
Many thanks

Trans tunnel cover in the 2wd is part of the floor stamping and will have to be cut out so to use the bolt on cover from the 4x4, remove the 4x4 cover in the 4x4 to see how the floor in the 2wd needs to be cut out.
Wiring depends on options that the trucks came with but if both are auto trans or both manual trans then that hurdle is already overcome, also does the instrument cluster have dummy lights or actual gauges-if they are different then you will have to swap some sub-wiring harnesses around.
Body mounts should be the same between your trucks as narrow highboy frames werent made past 77, but it is easy for you to put a tape measure to your body mounts for your piece of mind. 4 bolts for cab, 8 bolts for box-1 or 2 hidden clips for front of box bolts depending on fuel tank, 2 bolts for rad support. Sometimes exhaust or fuel lines are attached to the underside of box instead of the frame crossmembers so watch for those, as previous owners/mechanics do stupid things sometimes.
Thanks
