1974 V-360 2WD Runs but seems to be starved of fuel after 10 min of driving.
Hey guys and girls,
My truck has been running fine for the first while but after about 10 minutes of driving it starts to sputter then die. It happened twice already. I would wait a minute or two and it would start then die 30 seconds down the road and then repeat. It definitely seems to start easier after I wait longer.
Some history:
It has been converted form propane to gas( doesn't look like there is a return line on the fuel tank behind the seat.? Do I need this or a fuel regulator?
I changed he mechanical fuel filter.
Runs great other then when it seems to warm up and hit high speeds
I live in a colder climate ( does vapor lock happen here).
Any ideas? I have pondered the accelerator pump and vapour lock but that's about it? HELPP!!!!
I suspect your propane is getting too cold once it starts to gas off. When you start you're running off of the gaseous propane in your tank, as the propane evaporates, the temp drops it stops evaporating and you're not getting enough gas pressure to feed the engine. This happens to me while cooking with a propane stove on winter camping trips. Propane evaporates at -44 F, if you are already in a colder climate, it won't take much to drop the temp in your tank that low.
Thanks man, the propane tank was on the back of the truck and is gone. I installed a new one behind the seat. There should be no propane in the system anymore.
It seems to run fine at idle . I did notice when I pushed the accelerator a few times by hand after it stalled it would start up a little easier. That does sound like the issue. Maybe it was set ok for propane and it needs to be higher for gas? Is there a good site you have to set or check the bowl?
