Newbie Question on Air Cleaner
I'm new to the forum. I just bought an '81 F-150 that's in need of TLC. It's missing engine bay parts and the vacuum lines are all in disarray. I got it running (barely) and got the electrical working well enough to pass a Texas safety inspection. So I'm street-legal, but its running like crap.
Having read some posts, I understand its important to get the original air cleaner cover, snorkel and lines hooked up. I'm guessing the prior owner was seeking "more performance" by disconnecting the smog stuff. The junkyard seems pretty picked clean. Lots of V-8s but only one 300-engined truck or Bronco. Right now it has no air cleaner of any kind and that's a very bad plan for Far West Texas.
So my question (or request) is could somebody post an engine bay picture of a similar vintage 300 more-or-less stock so I could at least know what I'm looking for for an air cleaner?

Those posts were exactly what I needed. I found the air cleaner in the junkyard; the key identification factors were the little tab on the side and the color. Unfortunately, the top was run-over but I think an hour or two with the hammer and a sand pile and I can get it to running condition until i can find a better one.
