Does anyone tow a trailer with their trucks? I'm wondering if the F3 with a 5.0EFI T5 trans F250 rear axel/gears 4 wheel disk could pull a 3200 lb horse trailer with 2 1200 lb horses in it. I would put the proper rated hitch or maybe go to a goose neck if better? Any thoughts
This may just be me thinking, but I'd venture to guess that kind of thing was towed with an F3 all the time when your truck was new, with stock drivetrain and brakes. I would think you'd be fine. (assuming the rest of the suspension is in good condition)

Wayne I should have said it has a Jag XJS power steering front end
I would say it depends on the 5.0 engine specs. I had an 89 F250 light duty with the 5.0 and it could barely tow a loaded car trailer, maybe 5000 pounds total. It was such a dog I got rid of it after the first tow. My 89 F150 with the 300 6 cylinder was better for towing, slow as anything but pulled better. The T5 will help to get moving but got to have that low end torque for towing.
I would say it depends entirely on how fast you intend to go.
Big different towing a load at 30 mph and towing it at 70mph.
These trucks were never really intended to be driven at 70 mph, let alone tow something.
I'd be fearful of towing anything at a speed much over 50 mph, unless you are extremely confident in the steering, suspension, and brakes.... ball joints, u-joints, etc...
That being said, I intend to use my F-1 as a car hauler.
I tow a 16 ft trailer all the time . I have hauled cars , gravel . dirt , trash , you name it . I have a 351 w , C6 , 9 inch with 270 gears , disk front drum rear . never had a problem . It is a 54 F100 panel .
Thanks guys I know we won't be doing 70 but the mid fifties are pretty normal speeds. I'll be doing a lot of test runs long before doing any trailer hauling. One more thing the 5.0 is a 91 with the higher hp rating and the T5 is a world class (i think thats what they're called) not the lesser style. Again thanks for input
I have not seen many Jags towing horse trailers I think you might be taxing the limits of a passenger car suspension. That being said if the trailer has good brakes and you tow sensibly you should be ok. It is the panic stop I would worry about. Other than the front suspension the rest of the truck should be more than enough to tow the weight of the trailer. maybe someone that has your combination will have more insight.
