dana 44 to dana 60 swap

I have a 69 ford f100, changed the 9inch to a dana 6O rear end, had to replace leaf spring brackets to install. Does anyone know what type of mods I would need to do for a matching dana 60 front end, with a spring set up? Right now I have a dana 44 in the front end with spring coil overs and shocks. seems to be easy but be nice to figure cost before starting the project,

Also have a np435 inside the truck and am unsure if changing the gears to match the 410s or changing the gears in the axles would be beneficial, or both? I like the torque but would like more range.

I have a 460 w c6 trans, looking to swap for a dana 60 front end.

Be prepared to spend lots of money and lots of fabrication work. What do you plan on using the truck for? Any lift what size tires will you be using? To put in a Dana 60 you need a axle, custom steering linkage made, custom control arm/radius arms coil buckets might need to go coilover shocks not sure as it's on a f100 frame. Possible driveshaft work? Lots of measuring and work to put one in. I'm guessing at the least 1,200 or more to get a 60 under there.

And with ALL that done, you will still have a 1/2 ton frame.......consider instead a 3/4 ton 8 lug D44 front, that can be done while retaining the front coils. this way you will have 8 lugs front and rear, youve still beefed the truck up a lot...

I definitely like the idea of the 1/2 ton truck sitting on a 1 ton axle set up. I have noticed that the dana 44 and 9 inch were shorter lengths in width than the dana 60s. Is this correct? I didnt realzie this until I had to update the leaf spring mounts on the rear axle and the tires to seem to have a wider stance than the front now.

This all lead me to believe that I would have to do an entire mod for the linkage set up for the front end. I dont think 1200 is alot especially if Im doing the work for the most part. I am only looking to put 33s or 35s at the most, in which I already have 33s on and I have a 6 inch suspension already on the truck would like to go another two and maybe a little body lift. I like suspension lifts the most.

If I can find a dana 60 to match, what should I look for? was their a certain vehical that came with a dana 60 with coil springs? can the coil buckets be relocated like the rear ends leaf springs(fab closer in to allow it to fit under the truck? I definitely dont want to go leaf springs in the front.

If I did go 3/4 ton 8 lug D44 front end would the instalation be a bolt installation with mods accordingly?

Please help.

Im going to get pictures loaded today
thanks alll

I think you really need to go over to the Pirate4x4.Com - The largest off roading website in the world. to get more of a hands on info. Those guys can give you much needed info for your project.
That's right up their alley..

But do your home work getting as info as you can before asking questions on that site.

Why because the internet is full of answers and they expect you to know something when you get their and ask about what you want to do. If you don't those guys will flame you bad!! Go there and use the search engine to get some smarts..
Plus google it to..

The easiest way is to swap the spindles from an 8 lug D-44 73-79 F-250 and you can also add disc brakes depending on the year. For your D-60 rear, you would not have had to move the spring pads if you would have used an axle from a 67-72 F-250 2&4wd and 73-77 F-250 4wd.
