I followed a lead for a parts truck a little while back.It was a rotten 53 merc 350.He said he acquired a 56 half ton and a 3/4 ton,so I went for a drive. This is what I found and brought home.
I also came across this.I traded a couple hrs welding for it with a farmer.I gave it to my Dad,seems I have too many trucks now.
I thought I would share.I haven't been able post for a while due to working away and a bugged up computer.
The 3/4 ton ran after an hrs work and I am waiting on some brake parts. It has a six.Dad has been soaking the flatty so next time I am home hopefully we can free it up.
No r reed,I was planning on using it for parts but being a weldor I wouldn't feel right chopping it up.I think I will put an interior in it and drive it.I have an old welding bed built around the late sixties that wil fit the part.
Thanks Ross! You know they bought three new in 56 for the oilfield.A couple years ago I tried to buy the single wheeled one ton to build on top of my 91 D*dge. He told me that it is the only truck that starts when its -35 outside(Celsius) so it's not not for sale. That is unit 1.As the story goes they bought two and had gin poles on them and were getting requests for a welder on occasion and that is where the 3 on the hood comes in.It has been a welding truck since new.
Pretty neat,I never would have thought I would have found a 56 Ford that was ordered origionally as a welding truck
