Is anyone running Edge plus Scan Gauge II? I recently hooked up a borrowed Scan Gauge II and the truck did not like it. Readings on the Edge were blank and truck actually shut off three times while messing with the scanner. Unhooked scanner and all is fine. Seems like they do not jive together.
It would be nice, but research shows that two devices using the single DLC are not powered equally....so chaos ensues. I have seen one search result where a guy was able to rig a switch between an OBDII 1-to-2 adapter.
I suspect the data path doesn't support more than 1 device per buss. I see several when I connect to the truck with my laptop. If I understand correctly if the two devices connect to different data busses they COULD both work. Unfortunately, the CANBUS is the main player and most devices will want to connect to it. If an external device is present already which ever device comes second will get no response when it requests to connect (no handshake).
It is possible to run two ScanGauges daisy chained together. One connects to the truck the second one connects to the first so there is only one data link. Other devices may have the same capability- to talk between two same devices over one data connection.
If a device just uses a power connection from the OBD plug there are Y cables. These Y cables MAY also work if you have your Edge on one connection and something like a GPS that can connect through another buss.
Basically, two devices aren't going to work...usually, but you can try, there is a slim chance. It depends on what the devices are.
