2010 5.4L Performance Mystery

I just test drove a 2010 F150 Platinum Supercrew with a 5.4L and it felt slower and sluggish compared to my current 2004 F250 Supercab with a 5.4L. I need to replace the F250 with a 4x4 and considering that I only intend to tow a 5000 lb. travel trailer the F150 seems like a good replacement. The F250 is about 500 lbs. heavier but the F150 5.4L supposedly is more powerful by about 40 hp. The rear axle ratio is the same 3.72. I would have thought the overall performance of the F150 to be better. What am I missing in my comparison?

depending on how it was driven by the previous owner the transmission will adapt to the driving style of the driver. also the 04-up f-150s are "drive by wire" which does have a different feel then a cable from the pedal to the throttle body. SCT3 tuners can fix all of these issues.
