Did the 55 custom cabs have a locking glove box door? I had ordered a new **** like the ashtray without giving it any thought and guess what, the whole in my glove box door is almost as big as the ****. So I'm guessing there must have been a lock and or button there instead of the standard ****. is this right and if so, can you buy those anywhere? If not, I'm going to have to dig through my many and I say many sandwich bags full of old screws and bolts to see if I can find the original.
Glove boxes either has a pull **** or a lock (optional). No one repops the locks but some people say you can get one for an old VW to work. May be easier to switch out the glove box door itself. I have one for sale. Good luck.
thanks so much, I will make some calls tomorrow, I looked this morning and can't find mine. either was never there or the parts gremlin took it.
The parts gremlin just hides my parts that I have had sitting around for almost 2 years - then when I can't find it/them and replace it, they turn up almost right in front of me. I think that I have three sets of hood hinge bolts around, and I will never use any of them since I flipped my hood. Evil little parts gremlins not only hid the ones I had, but made me forget that I had bought them...
thanks for everyone's help with this, the folks in Arlington had one, so drove over and picked it up. Still in the original box. Had $2.95 marked on the box from I guess 50 years ago, I paid 65 bucks. LOL. thanks again, the lock fit like a glove (box).
