Headlight connector burnt?

Hi, my driver headlight connector is all toast up. I went to the scrapyard and they have the same problem on other heavy duty ford.

Is there a fix?

Mine are 8 years old and for 4 they have been running a bright box. No problems and they look fine last I looked. Are you talking crunchy insulation or melted? Get new pigtails and older in from dealer or adtermarket?

O'Reilly sells replacement 6.0 headlight connector pigtails, right on the electrical parts row. Be sure to choose the "high temperature" version! The regular version is an exact fit but I know from personal experience that they will melt if the electrical joint ever becomes imperfect.

Kind of melted, broken and black, they still work but sometimes get loose and no more light. I will check with the dealer but they are normally way overexpensive on small stuff. Where can you get an aftermarket?

Might be time to ditch the old DIM ford lights and upgrade to HID's. They are so cheap nowadays and they provide very nice light.

I will check O reilly, the dealer wants 72 dollars for the connector and an few inch of wires. I had a set of set of HID, Halo, Xenon light on it but I removed it, I went through two set of light. Don't know if the light or the ballast is burnt.

Any suggestion on a good set of HID over the net, maybe from China?

Look at the pigtail catalog in the tech folder and get the part number
then stop at Amazon or Ebay and get a new set of the high temp ones.
Mine were turning brown. Loose connection will cause this and the
only fix it to replace the pigtail.
If you look for HID get a German made one that is AC not DC. Much better
than the Chinese that tend to be DC and die fast.

Well say what you want about the chinese versions, but I bought mine from DDMtuning.com and they have been going strong for 3 years now. I outfitted my headlights and fog lamps for under 70.00 total.....like I said spend the extra money if you want but why? I went with 35W ballasts on both in the 8k bluish color....much nicer light than the bright as the sun 5k color....too bright IMO

Thanks everyone, Great catalog in the folder, did not know about this one. There is so many different Pigtails, amazing.

I should be able to find a replacement now.
