I havent tried a ford either, just a later model sterling. It was ok, but sure wasnt as solid as the K/W and W/S fleets ive driven in northern alberta.
Honestly, I know little about them. They haul gravel...make noise...about the extent of my knowledge. I've been tempted to buy a smaller dump truck to coincide with a skid steer as my business grows. Something without air brakes to avoid the extra endorsement on the license was my plan. I don't know how good a plan, but a plan nontheless...

I think thats an excellent plan. There is tons of skid steer work out there!
I would do some reading into them before ya pick one based on brand as well. I realize this is a ford truck forum, and you seem to be a nothing but ford guy, but there is some better choices and deals to be had out there that might just suit your needs better.
There`s always a budget to consider, I`ve found that the Ford gravel trucks seemed to be priced in the ball park tho not always. It does pay to shop around, every extra dollar spent means $3-4 more that have to be earned to make up for that.
Exactly what I was referring to about budget. I figured I would use mine alot more then i do, I could have gotten away with something not quite so overkill, and less offroad compatible, and much less money.
I bleed blue on a regular basis, but the dump truck idea isn't something that I would really be brand specific about. There is more available from other manufacturers in the single axle/no air brakes. I think a couple that I had eyed up were International trucks. Missed a good deal from AB, it was a Ford F650 with Cat power, had trailer and skid steer complete for around 50g... Until I have our house complete, which will be pretty soon, I need to keep an eye on funds...
