Hit a deer at 70mph last week and pretty much wiped out the front end of the truck so i lipped her home. The truck got totaled but i bought it back my only dilemma is do i fix her or find another 70s ford and shoe horn the engine and drive line into it. The radiator support is pushed in, the left fender needs to be replaced, grill is gone, left headlight is not there at any more, the radiator is toast it was transferring tranny fluid to the coolant but not to long nothing a flush would take care of, and the fan blades are folded over, and many more pieces that i dont know what they are
I thought about pulling the engine in my 75 and swapping it into it but it is my only truck i have available now that i got an excursion with a 7.3 in it of course, to replace red although there is plenty of 70 model fords in the area and we have a hell of a machinist in town and i am pretty good with a welder and cutting torch, i really would like to fix the truck up since it was my real first vehicle and i cut my teeth on it towards being a mechanic
Maybe find a parts truck to use as a donor for body parts. Other than the rad support, a gasser could be a donor. Might be able to find one with a blown engine. Even a F150 will work.
been there and done what you are thinking it is possible, but the best way to do it is put the 70s body on the powerstroke frame, and there are alot of little things and some big things that have to be done to do it
