B2300 fault code P1633

I have 2008 mazda B2300 pickup with P1633 fault code. Is this a mazda code (battery overcharge) or ford code (KAM voltage low) since it's a re-badged ranger? Alternator output measured at battery is 14.4 vdc.

That code should apply to the low voltage issue. Take it to Autozone/Advance and have them do a free charging system/battery load test to check it out. This is the reply when someone else posted the same question about the code online:

P1633 Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low (Ford)
It means that at sometime in the past the battery voltage was below specs at the PCM and set the code. The battery provides 12 volts to power everything, the car probably sat for a while and probably took a long time to start or had to be jumped off to start.... when the voltage got below 9 volts it set the code.
The code is more of a indicator for us more than anything.. the computer learns as you drive and all the code is saying is that it lost it's power to itself and can loose that learned information.
Have a shop inspect the battery for being weak or dying as well as your battery connections.. if all is fine, I wouldn't worry as my guess is the car's code was set cause it sat unused for a while

Thanks. One autozone said mazda battery overcharge, another said ford KAM low voltage. The alternator is charging o.k. at 14.4 volts. Battery hasn't been disconnected, low or sat for a period of time. Connections also o.k. I suspect it's a KAM problem. Lights been on for over two weeks but otherwise runs fine. Just not sure if the PCM is programed for mazda or ford.
I'll probably take to dealer anyway.

Those codes shouldn't be specific to Mazda. Same exact engine/computer /controls as the Ranger. It was built in the same plant in New Jersey.

Browsed the internet some more and someone else suggested checking the fuse in the black under hood fuse box. The fuse is number 21 for the PCM Keep Alive Power. If the fuse is good try cleaning the contacts on the fuse ( fine sandpaper) and make sure fuse is fully seated. Also if you do take it to the dealer keep in mind some items are still covered in the Emissions Warranty. The fact that it triggers the light might be enough to tip the scales in your favor. After all if you took it in for E check it would fail because the light is lit. I would press the case. Dealers don't offer anything if they think they can end up billing you for it. My 03 was made in New Jersey, so assumed all were. Hope your's was slapped together better than mine.

Actually I've been quite happy with the truck. This is first problem in 4 years. I am aware that Mazda covers some emission items for 8 years/96K miles including ECU. Hopefully that's the same as PCM. I've also read that fuse 21 or 22 also protects wiring to AC clutch and might have blown from that. I may wait till weather warms here in N.E. Ohio to check fuses and wiring, as long as it's running good. I really appreciate your help and will keep you posted with results.

Yep. Fuse #21 blown. Replaced it and OK now.
Thanks again for your advice.
