just bought an 11 f350 srw 6.2l gas. traded an 08 250 psd in on it and was wondering how much weight i can tow with it. looking at purchasing a 2012 silverback 5th wheel camper and the uvw is 12,176 lbs and will pry have 2k of stuff loaded into it making it about 14k. is this 2 much w8 4 this truck?
looks like i should have gotten the 4.30 ratio. i can't believe that you can tow 3k more lbs with the 4.30 ratio over the 3.73. oh well.......thanks for the info.
You can regear it easily enough. But that is a lot of trailer for an SRW and a lot of trailer for a gasser. It can be done. I can't guarantee you will like it. You're going to miss that PSD you traded.
I have the 2011 with the 6.2, 3.73 rear end and i tow a 12000 lb fifth wheel with no problem. I got rid of a 2004 6.0 because it was $1000 me to death. lol
so your telling me that my truck won't pull it very well........or it will but its gonna be shifting all the time????
All of this info is in the brochure. We are just saying you need to reevaluate your truck of the 5er you are going to get. you can tow what you want. Just don't say you were not warned when you are setting on the side of the road.
Mine is 12,600 loaded but I have the 4.30's. It pulls it just fine and will even maintain the speed limit up 6% grades. I wouldn't want to try it with 3.73's though. Might get a little hard on the truck. All depends on where you live and how you drive most of the time. Loving mine and don't miss the 6.4 at all.
