hi
I need help my car is a F250 1999 7.3l Super Duty, but I don't have any ideas which rear axle I have. I need new lubricant for my rear differential and that's the reason why I need the axle type
Jack up the rearend and spin a tire. if they spin in two different directions, any 75W90 gear lube will work.( I prefer Mobil one synthetyic) if they both spin the same direction, you have a limited slip. make sure you add some limited slip additive thats Ford compatible.
Thats of course if your changing all of the fluid. If your just topping off, I wouldnt worry to much about the additive unless your really low.
Mobil One syn doesn't have enough additive, so adding some extra is a good thing. this is what I used. (it is Ford compatible)
