Cooler weather freeing up power? Sensors?

Hey amigo's! Happy weekend.

First off, I know next to nothing about the sensors on these trucks. I couldn't tell you what goes where or what it does when it comes to the sensors.

I have noticed with the cooler weather that my truck runs much better. More power, smoother, less bogging - just tons more fun to drive. Low-end torque is downright mean.

* What sensors affect power with tempature change?

I just don't have this power when it's hot out.

Thanks!

Yessir, I'm talking about my '94. I've owned the truck 5 years now. My first vehicle!

Yes I'm asking what sensors might affect my truck's performance because of temptature change.

I was thinking perhaps my 300 is running richer in cooler weather, thus the "increase" in power. She seems to run best around 40 to 50F*.

I realize all automotives run better in cooler weather but this seems to be a rather noticable increase in performance. I would like to be able to keep this power year round if I can.

I was grinning from ear to ear yesterday durring the joy ride.

If your vehicle runs better in cooler weather I would check out the cooling system. A partially blocked radiator, faulty water pump, or thermostat that doesn't open all the way could be the cause.

Pull the codes. It's free at Autozone, and may reveal that something is amiss.

This was most USEFUL tool for my 94 explorer and 95 F250 plus 96 E350.

Most vehicles seem to perform best between 35-50F. You get colder or hotter and you will lose performance.

Nothing runs great at 95F or at -20F.

Lots of sensors are affected by air temp.

AIT, MAF, BAP, CT, O2, VAF, MAP and probobly others. Not only does it lower the resistance it is a denser charge going into the engine.

They way a carbed engine idles in this cooler weather is to die for.

I have yet to hear sweeter music than a flathead or Y idling below zero. The soft thump of a low CR engine. Ahhh,

Okay thanks guys, I appreciate the information.

Mr. Frank, my truck is OBD1, autofart won't touch it.

My truck has always ran much better in cooler weather - maybe that's just the nature of the beast! It has been a hot summer here in WVA

might want to check your fuel pressure, you might have a bad regulator, I did on the new to me 94. ran much better, and better fuel mileage after the change.

Ravens Fan, Charlie, while the 300 can pull a barn up hill, it only has 145 horse; if the cooler weather were to free even 15 horse, that would feel a lot more significant than if we had 250-horse V8's. I'm starting to think maybe because of the low horsepower all 300's feel much stronger in cooler weather.
