Learned something new wanted to share

As my screen name implies,I am the owner of a 97 Ford F250 light duty 4WD.

I was recently inspecting the brakes and had to put the wheels back on to move it. I had no idea what the toque spec was for the 7 lug wheels I have.

I called a local independent tire shop and asked the question about the torque spec when installing the wheels.

The guy on the phone told me to look at the washer on the lugnut,it would have the proper specs on it. For some of you with poor eyesight, you might need a magnifying glass to read it,its pretty small.

The washer on my lugs said "100 ft lbs"

Not sure if this is the case with other Ford products, but if your unsure of the torque spec on stock wheels and lugs on your 97 F250 LD 4X... Check the washer on the lugnut,it will have the torque spec right on it

Verify with your manual, most if not all 2 piece lug nuts with washer also requires one drop of motor oil between the flat washer and nut before installing the lug nuts. Do NOT put oil on lug nut threads or wheel studs.
