1951 F1 truck radio

Hi everyone, does anyone have a 1951 F1 with an original radio in it?
Any pictures?
What do people do for a radio without cutting up the dash?
Thanks, Mike

Build an over head cabinet for it. Julie has a nice one.

No, but I'm about to put the original radio in. The speaker and radio might require a special bracket for the install.

Thanks to gearhead1952 for the photo.

We have seen lots of options in some great discussions here. I HATE to cut a dash - won't do it. When I installed my 51 stock clock in my ash tray (huh?) I actually bought another ash tray to put in it's place to keep it stock if need be.

As far as Radios, you can put them in the glove box or under the seat and use a remote, or you can build an overhead or console holder - lots of options!

Here's a picture of mine - quarter sawn red oak with polished stainless bed strips! Two speakers in the console and two more in the kick panels:

Also, they do make replacement modern stereos that fit in the original cut out. USA makes them and I think LMC still sells them. Do a Google Search for "USA-5 Stereo"

I am pretty sure the '49-'50 passenger car radio is the '51-'52 pickup radio. The car radios are pretty easy to find. The 100% correct speaker mount will be very hard to find, but it shouldn't be that hard to make something work without cutting the dash.

Did you find a radio for your F1?

This is kinda late, but I sold my 51, and have a Ford pushbutton radio, OEM. I never installed it, but I did have it checked out, and the shop said the vibrator was fine, hummed as it is supposed to do. If you have any interest, I'd sell it in a heartbeat.
