How far will a 7.3l Power Stroke Go?

I am new to diesels and in the market for a "new" work truck. I am looking around and it doesn't seem like 200,000 miles is over the hill for f250's or diesels in general. Can anyone tell me how many miles I can expect to get out of a 94-97 diesel?

Depends on maintence of the PO. If they did good maintence and you do too. 300000 plus isnt out of the ordinary.

Previous Powerstrokes:

1999 7.3L 170,000

1997 7.3L 349,000

1997 7.3L 96,000

1995 7.3L 328,000

1995 7.3L 284,000

1995 7.3L 239,000-current truck

1995 7.3L 238,000

1995 7.3L 231,000

1994 7.3L 196,000

These trucks if maintained properly can lasta very long time.

The trucks I've had with high miles ran with the best of them!

I had a 7.3 that ran like a champ with nearly 300 000kms. But that was a 3 year old truck. My cousin's 98 is down for the count with under 200 000kms. I think he has some fractured rings.
The thing is you are talking about 14 year old engines and with time there are bound to be more problems.

Yep, it all comes down to previous maintenance. Proper oil change intervals and small repairs done and not let go and they will last a long long time. I've seen them with well over 500000 miles. An old retired farmer in town has a 95 with 520k on it.

my '97 has 205,000 well maintained
my '99 has over 300,000. it started it's life as a hot shot truck in texas than went back east for a year or 2 than was a ranch truck for a couple years. it doesn't have any maintenance history! when I bought it it has probably 20,000 miles since it's last oil change. it wouldn't bother me to drive it across the country tomorrow!

A good friend of mine who worked for the Ford truck division said they called it the 480 motor. He claimed that properly maintained they average 480,000 miles before the first major engine work. Mine has 214K with no problems other than bolt on items wearing out. Alternator, starter, vacuum pump, fuel pump, glow plugs, GPR.

Yea, I change trucks often!

I'm not quite 18, but I've clocked at least 50,000 on those trucks.
