I have seen versions of this question asked in different places, and have done alot of searching but don't seem to get a straight answer so I thought I would post my very specific circumstances to see what reaponses I get, so here it goes.

I have an o1 f350 7.3 diesel with edge extreme chip

Ive been running chip on stock.

In 2002 at about 5000 miles my cps went out, and was replaced, then replaced again 13 months ago because of recall. I also had the cruise recall completed 3 or 4 weeks ago. Other than that I have preformed the fix on the door lock actuators that I found here (which solved problem) and that is about all I have done to truck. Here is my problem.

The truck starts fine, idles fine and acts just as it should when sitting. You can start to drive and all of the sudden the SES light comes on and there is no response from the accelerator, after a few seconds (sometimes 2, others longer) the light goes off and accelerator function returns. It doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the temp of truck or how long you drive, sometimes it doesn't do it at all. When I had the cruise recall done (about a month ago) the light stayed off and didn't come on for about 2 weeks, then started again. While I was there I bought a spare CPS but have not put it on yet. As I remeber when the first CPS went out, the symptoms were the same, no pedal response but the truck would idle, only when it did it the first time the SES light never went out and the pedal never responded. After the replacement of the first CPS I never had a problem again until 3 months ago.

Another problem I have, that I do not believe is related, is a very wierd shift thing that happens at 20 mph and about 1500 rpms and only there. It will act as if it is shifting to a higher gear but immediately downshift, then try up again, then downshift, if I accelerate past...no problem, if I let off accelerator and slow down...no problem but just at that speed, usually not a problem except when pulling my 5th wheel through a school zone.

Any help is appreciated and I am going to try to have codes read today, if I get anything with that I will post but from what I have read most times with a problem like this you will not get codes.
