oil in the air box, and lots of it?? cant figure out why?
ok i have a 1989 bronco with 112,000 miles on it. it is in great shape and runs crisp, realy sounds a feels good but today when i pulled the air filter out i realised the air box was full of oil and it is so full that it is dripping out the tube and coating the inner fender.. it is a quart or more low and it disnt burn oil.. why is all this oil in my air box, it is coming into the box from the tube off the valve cover... anyone know what is causing this, i'm stumped. thanks

Did you check to make sure there is a good airflow to the new valve? Those lines are bad to get "carbon" or some kind of junk built up and plug the line off....

YOU HAVE SOMETHING CALLED BLOW BY . its when your rings are worn and the oil is getting past the rings and valves, in the heads and what end up happening is your truck will start to exhale out the air box, it is very common thing, also your Pcv needed to be replaced,...
common fixes Clean air box, replace pcv valve and hose,
clean heads, check for compression in your cylinders, you prolly have one or more that putting out bout 100 or less psi
due to old worn rings,
also check your manifold if it is full of oil, The ONLY cause is blow by from the rings to the valves ,
good luck if u need any advice or help let me know

p.s blow by doesn't burn oil . just spits it around .

Well obviously you have a serious problem with the PCV system or the upper end, maybe both. I'm leaning towards PCV, I don't think oil in the air box would be his biggest problem if he had that much blow-by. It should burn at least some oil if the upper end is the problem. But definitely check it while you're fixing the PCV system.
IMO there's a 75% chance this is a PCV valve, which is often a 5-minute fix BUT Ford gets hundreds for them. Get one from NAPA or a really, really, good used one.
