i have a 92 f150 with a pos mazda 5speed and 302 motor.the shifter lever is rattleing real bad if i hold it or move it a little it seems to stop.is this the shifter fork?also the trany whines real bad when accelarating through all gears 4th seems to be the quietest. should i have it rebiult or try to get differant trans? i heard a zf will bolt up is this true? if so how do i get one?

The M5OD is very sensitive to lubrication, and it sounds like yours is in trouble. The ZF is very expen$ive ($800-1400), and would probably require the driveshafts to be cut at a minimum.

so maybe i should try to rebuild this one? what about going to a thicker lube like maybe 5w30 oil?could i get a good zf from a junk yard for cheap if so what do i find them in?
