96 PSD Stalls on incline

Greetings! I have a 1996 7.3 PSD 5 speed with 153,000 miles. The issue I have is that if I set at a stoplight that has even the slightest uphill incline the engine will buck, and want to stall on takeoff. Usually this is two big bucks, then all is well once moving. If the truck does actually stall, restart is difficult, but runs great once running. Truck runs great going down the road, and NGS Shows no DTC's. I bought this truck as a very abused project, and had to replace the high pressure oil pump, crank position sensor, and engine oil temp sensor Right away. The only modifications I can see is that the exhaust has been straight piped through the cat, and muffler. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does it do the stalling at all stop lights or stop signs? Or does it just happen at up hill lights and stops?
I am thinking the clutch is not releasing all the way. Is it a little difficult putting the trans in gear while at a stop? You did mention it was abused. The clutch may be worn out. Also, the throttle potentiotemeter may be out of wack too. Not fueling just that little bit to keep it from stalling. Whatcha think? There are 2 places to look.

bilder12,

Thanks for the reply. It can buck after a stop sign, or stop light. If I climb up a steep driveway, it will also stall while moving. I did put a new LUK solid mass flywheel in it less than a 1000 miles ago. It shifts fine, and rolls backward with clutch in, in gear. I want to emphasise that it will sit and idle all day long. The bucking/stalling is when I start moving, kind of like watching a beginner with a clutch starting in third instead of first. I would not rule out the throttle switch, but it is only on an incline. Flat surface, or downhill is not an issue.

hmmm, I'm not sure but do the psd's have a switch on the clutch to tell the PCM that the clutch is engaged/disengaged? My '89 f150 gas engine had one. It tells the pcm that more power is needed I think.

I didn't drive the truck much before the clutch replacement. But I don't feel it is clutch related.
