That Volga must fly with the new engine! Was the original engine < 2.0 L?

Originally in my Volga was installed 2.44L 4 cil engine 80 hp but for KGB and government since 1962 was produced an another version - Gaz 23 with fully aluminium 5.53 v8 engine 195 hp and 440 nm =)

 

That car is in amazing shape for a 64 you must not use salt on your roads.

 

What's the story on the "newer" Volga in the background of the last photo? Majority of the taxis in Russia were those "newer" Volgas.

In the winter our roads fill up with deicing reagents which are much worse than salt

This is an everyday car for one of my friends. This car was produced in 1983, one of the latest 24s. Yes, long time ago Volga`s was the most popular taxi cars in Russia. But now you can not see Volga as taxi. Usually in our country taxis use Ford Focus, Mondeo, Toyota Camry, Renault Logan, Hyundai Solaris. Police mostly use Ford Focus, Transit and BMW/MB with V8 engines as interceptors.

Ford Focus, Toyota camry, BMW, Renault and some other cars are made in Russia.

Volga 24 and Volga 21 are rere cars in our country and seldom meet on the road. However Volga 24 in a garbage condition still meet on the road...
