It misses when I let off the throttle.
88 F150 with 4.9 and manual transmission. Has had for years an occasional and head jurking miss that I have never been able to track down... Ford too. It can happen anywhere but recently I came to two interesting clues. It had a very high occurance of happeing on the same road on the top of the same hill and at the bottom of the same hill at the same stop sign.
I know, solving this is as easy as finding a different way to work.
So with this realization I have the tested the following at 45 to 55 mph.
1
Drive a short distance and let off the throttle and all will be fine.
Drive up a hill varying the throttle position and let of the throttle as I top the hill and all will be fine.
But drive up a hill where the throttle has been steady at the same physical place for say 1/4 mile, and let off the throttle as I top the hill and she bucks.
2
Starting from a full stop is uneventful.
However, after coasting down a long hill (clutch in) and stopping at the bottom at an intersection, she misses badly starting out in 1st, then the miss clears up.
