Well I was speaking to a senior Ford sales executive in Germany yesterday who has seen photos of the next generation 2012 Ford Transit and told me Ford are planning on selling it in the US and it will replace the Econoline!
Mercedes sell diesels in the US as do Volkswagen. Ford diesels meet the same standards that Mercedes and VW do, so must be clean enough for most states.

In my original post I was referred to small diesel engines and prices the non-rich could afford. This would exclude diesels over 3.0 L and MSRP over $45,000. I'm interested in turbo diesels that could propel vehicles like a Transit Connect, a Ranger or a F150 economically. Vehicles like that are available world-wide, except in the USA.
