Awesome, I just started my rebuild today. I've got the motor out now and I'm about to start pulling it apart but not sure whice gasket/rebuilt kit to buy??
Any suggestions??
I'm hoping that my heads and bottom end will check out to be good. I pulled it because of a blow head gasket and to reseal it up.

Hey Guys NEW PICS - It was raining today so i was not able to get as much done as i liked. and we had a bit of a problem trying to take out the oil galley Plugs.
So heres a few pics from today , * don't worry tomorrow there is a lot to do !
teacher in the back ground. he wanted to show the class how to remove the oil Galley Plugs the right way with out tearing them up !. So here is me again working on my own block :P Basicly Due to Lock tight and age. its best to Heat the Plugs you should have 6 on your block. after there RED HOT. tip : You want to take some basic candle wax * and set it on there the wax will melt and act as a coat. and quickly slip in between the threads for easy removal .
Here we are measuring for * out of round on the Main journals * Make sure they ARE CLEANED GOOD also take out your Main bearings before you take your specs, Torque to 129-149 Nm So far the block is in Great Condition * i will be using .10 over on mains.
when you are checking for Deck flatness you need to completely remove any Matrial on your block deck, Best way to do this is use a Metal Scrapper, and Putty Knife, after you scrap all the excess material Off, you will hand sand for basic smoothness.
as you see here! it doesn't effect your block at all , remember your just cleaning up for Presion checking.
Next you will need to use a precision straight edge, and a .003 inch Feeler gauge.
there is 5 ways you need to check your deck, x pattern , both sides left and right, and middle. put your extra long feeler gauge on the deck surfaces set the stright edge on top and gently pull on the gauge, it should feel like you pulling a dollar bill from under neath a book, also the next best way to check , is turn off the lights and shine a light on one side of the precision edge slowly moving to one side have a friend check to see if there is any light protruding out from in between the deck and the precision edge , If there is a light spot, double check it with a .003 feeler gauge .
thankfully I was lucky and this block Will only need to be bored .40 over and hone cleaning, The deck surface was Great and will only Require a cleaning.

thanks for following this thread tomorrow, i will be able to work on the heads and other items including more spray painting !
again It rained today so i wasn't able to accomplish much .

HEY HEY NEW PICS TODAY !! course it rained again so...
here they are
Beed Blasted the Oil pan its not perfect but its only for spry paint .
Nice Job heh,, its just an oil pan.
OK guys As you can see in the pictures, My Old heads just where not cutting it, the exhaust and Intake ports where very small, and the heads just had it.
so I reordered the same Ones , as you can tell. But ported the intake and Exhaust sides At school , See the Big Difference! Also i made the intake Valve bigger , 2.019 ver 1.080. so now i will get better Flow and i left the exhaust valves alone. Stock, Better springs and i will be using Roller Rocker arm, with Flat tappet cam and Hydor lifters. more to come on that soon!
stick around Tour OF my shop in a NEW THREAD!
