2011 f250...been on the lot since 4/10/2010

i am wondering if there would be anything to be worried about if i were to purchase this truck. it has been on the lot since april 10th of this year and it has about 450 miles on it. i remeber when purchasing my 2007 we were told to stay away from trucks that have been sitting on the lot for more than about three months. not sure if this is true...any thoughts woould be appreciated.

first off I would ask them why it has 450 miles on it. What did they use it for? Or was it all test drivers? I bought my truck used and it had 4500 miles on it cause the previous owner couldn't make payments. The best thing is to ask questions about the truck and why it has over 400 on it and they consider it new until 500. You should be able to get a deep discount on that truck.

My truck had 450mi when I purchased it in June. I was not happy about it but the dealer explained that he traded trucks with a dealer in Georgia and my truck was driven down to FL. I bought it,and have not had even the hint of a problem. Maybe the truck in question has a wierd color or some unpopular options that has delayed its sale. If it is what you want I would go for it. You will have full warranty coverage anyway.

Yea I dont think you would have a problem at all,I would expect to get a deep discount on it though.

ok seems like i shouldnt be too worried. we are getting a pretty good deal on it...atleast i think. the sticker on it is just about $61,000 and we are getting it for $52,000 out the door. do you think thats a sufficient discout for the mileage?

Is it a good discount, yes. Can you do better, sure. I would stop negotiating on price and start making them throw in other ancillary services such as three free oil changes (they're expensive) or 10 free gallons of DEF.

Those are types of things that can be useful later and help defer/reduce the cost of ownership.

$9K off seems to be available with any truck (with some, not all dealers). 450 miles is nothing and if I were the selling dealer I would not offer any discount for that.

I agree with jonmacs22...ask for free mudflaps, oil changes, etc.

I agree you should be alright at that price, but I would have them throw in something with the deal. Like a toolbox, bed cover, mud guards, A couple gallons of DEF or oil changes, etc. I'm guessing that truck is close to being loaded?

The other thing I would ask is if there has been any repairs on the truck. I test drove one and notice a clicking when turning the steering wheel. The sales man was with me and I brought it to his attention. I came back a week later with my wife to look at trucks and wanted to show her the color. Well, that was all I could do since the steering column was getting work done.

Um... to me, the definition of old inventory is last years model, been sitting on the lot for over 12 months.

And still trying to get above invoice for it...

Production launched on that truck in mid April 2010. That must have been one of the preproduction builds. Ask about that.
