I have been throwing the p1316 with real rough running. I pulled the VC today and the plug was on straight but had about 3/16 of play when I pushed it together. Is that enough to throw the code and cause the code? All the wires looked good other than that. Any thoughts?
I have not shimmed it yet. I still have the cover off. I am trying to decide if I should do the glow plugs. At the same time I started throwing the p1316 I started throwing 2 glow plug codes on the same side. Can the plug not being secure throw those also? Is the 50 cent mod the way to go or go with the Ford clips?
Yes,re torque the rocker arms,re torque the injector hold down plates, add a 6637,and a 5" exhaust, gauges, new turbo,HPX,fuelx over, international up pipes,BTS trans,do the hutch mod, zoodad,do it all do everything, quit your job and just fix or replace stuff on your truck,

I used the Ford clips because I had them already. The quarter method looks like it works well and many people have used it with great results. With my luck, I'd grind it down too much and it'll fall out or not enough and I'll break something. I would also be a (little) nervous about having a piece of metal right on top of what International calls a 'high voltage' connection.
That being said, if I didn't have the plastic clips then I'd probably just use 2 quarters like most of the members here.
As an added benefit....at least your truck will always be worth at least 50 cents, no matter what the condition.
