how do you know when regen is over

my 2008 6.4 would go into regen cycle and I would drive until it was over, what are we supposed to do with the new 6.7? also is there something showing the regen cycle is still going.

Kinda confused about this post. I've had my truck for 2 months and haven't had any regen happen.. I never had a 6.4L, so I'm interested in what this does.

maybe someone has more details about this. I have 5,000 miles on the truck and have not come across anything like it yet.

Don't really know. I've seen the quick dash notice about 4 times in 1600 miles but nothing to show it's complete.Mpg's drop for a little bit but then ramp back up.

C,mon guys, just drive the trucks...the whole regen issue in a non-issue...really. I have 10000 miles on mine, 4500 towing 13000 pounds of fifth wheel. I have certainly missed more regen notices than I have seen. If you see the message and check the fuel mileage meter page you will see a small drop in mileage for 10 minutes. It then climbs right back up. There is no noticeable power drop or change in engine sound, at least to my ears. I quit thinking about it 6000 miles ago. Enjoy the ride...

Regards

I have 1,000 miles on mine. I have only seen the "cleaning exhaust filter" message pop once on the message screen. It doesn't stay long so its easy to miss the message. The manual states something to the affect, if the filter isn't to dirty it will state "cleaning exhaust filter" but isn't the actual regen mode. Don't quote me on this but it mentioned something like that. Oh, and yes it states to drive until it is over which can take up to 10-40 minutes. It doesn't say anything about when it is done.

I agree, I came from a 6.0 so no regain. Now having the 6.7 what I have learned from FTE is not to worry about it and let the truck work. These trucks are smart enough to tell you what it needs. It will tell you when you need to drive to clean the DPF.
No worries just enjoy the new truck and listen to what it tells you

As I wander the world of the new 6.7 truck, I notice this issue comes up mostly from guy's who had the 6.4 engines. This is understandable knowing the very noticeable detrimental side effects when that engine went into a regen cycle. 6.0 owners did not have to deal with it and 7.3 guy's are just so stunned with the new trucks power and amenities, they do not care. and that's a good thing

my concern is with my 6.4 I was handed TSB sheets explaining not to shut down the truck before the regen cycle was over and to run it through its cycle. Or you could suffer DPF problems $$$ down the road. Now with the 6.7 I have no idea what to do.

The 6.4 was the "DPF 1.0" if you will. The system on that motor works but does rely on a fairly extreme process. To keep the system working properly we did have to allow the cycle to complete, and help it complete as quickly as possible because it drank fuel and worked the engine pretty hard. The engine was doing 2 things at once.

The 6.7 is "DPF 2.0" and is a huge improvement. I no longer pay any attention to it and I have no idea how many times or how frequent the motor does this regen cycle. More importantly, I don't care anymore, which is very nice.

I don't know what Ford did to those 6.4s but I can tell you that we just drive the International version/ MaxxForce 7s that we have like you are doing with your 6.7. They seem to operate no differantly than the pre DPF engines with the exception of an occasional elevated exhaust temperature light which is just a warning to be mindfull where you park it when that is lit. International does provide the initiate parked regeneration switches but we have never touched them.

I have 3000 miles on mine and I am positive I have seen every "cleaning filter" message. That big orange message is hard to miss. I've seen it 5 times. Mileage drops a bit but no change in power etc. I make sure I drive at least 10 mins before I shut down.
