search the first 10 pages or so, there has been many topics posted on it. try and do a search before posting a new question, theres a good chance it has just been covered.
Your fuel mileage depends on many things. The main 2 are gearing and your right foot. Lower gear ratio= less mileage. Heavy right foot= less mileage.
Worn injectors, injection pump, dirty air filter, poor fuel, well worn engine, all contribute to poor mileage.
Along with checking and repairing the above items, improving the air flow both into and out of the engine will help with power and mileage. Adding a turbo is the number 1 way to get the most out the engine.
oreocreaming i looked for bout 4 hrs at posting and never found any way of improving mpgs but thanks for the page will check it out
mistakenID thanks for the info, i dont know the gearing on this truck but at 55 mph in overdrive (5 speed trans) runs at 1500 rpm it has a new crate engine with 40,000 miles new oil, fuel filter, air filter, injecton pump only bout 2 months old lots of other new parts and as far as a heavy foot hardly ever rev above 1800 on take off and run 55 most of the time. thanks again all info is appreciated. No, I dig dirt (excavation business) for a living.
Looks like you are about 90 miles or 1.5 hours south of me, route 20 is less than 1/2 mile from my house though.
Maybe when things get slowed down this fall we can meet up and I can give you a hand with the timing.
My work is going nuts right now, not enough hours in a week.
