300 CI, Best sounding muffler, Opinions welcome

What is the best muffler for the I6? I am looking for a little more sound from the little gas sipper. Performance would be a plus but I wouldn't expect much from a muffler upgrade.

What is your favorite brand?

Feel free to post some videos of your rig running. I would love to hear your exhuast.

I plan on keeping everything else stock. I might remove the cat becuase I don't have to pass any inspections where I live.

Check out the posts in the inline six cyl engine section. Abandoned Bronco has some nice ones.

How much work do you want to do, or have a shop do?

My current set up is this:

Stock EFI manifolds.
2" pipe from manifolds to Catco #9513 catalytic converter (dual 2" in/ single 2.5" out).
2.5" piping to a Flowmaster # 9425502 muffler (Series 50 Delta Flow, 2.5" inlet/ dual 2" outlets).
Dual 2" piping exiting out behind the rear tires.

This sounds very good, and definitely increased performance in the seat of the pants meter.

No muffler is best, glasspacks sound good. Only use baffled mufflers if you cut off your cats.

Depends on the engine, also, straight thru doesn't always mean quiet/deep. On a 300, straight thru and low toned usually sounds like ***, while louder, they get kind of a cummins tone to them(sans turbo of course).

I saw the vids in another thread of the Areostar and the Taurus good job on the vacuum diverter setup btw.

Thrush glasspack not loud at all in the cab but you can hear it on the outside. I just clamped it on and need to find time to get it welded up. I am thinking about cutting off the pipe and doing a turn down at the end of the glasspack. I dont like the pipe sticking out but this would make it louder in the cab.

Get a custom pipe done up to tuck it up out of sight but angled so it blows out from under the box side. It will stay a bit quieter in the cab that way.

I6-Stock w/ Smog Emissions removed
Factory Manifolds
Y-Pipe
No Cats
2 1/4" pipe into a Thrush Turbo Muffler
Chrome turndown tip

The exhaust is hung on a 45 degree angle out, exiting in front of the rear passenger side wheel....Not a loud of cab resonance....Yord to the wise: Use hangers with rubber inserts, as it absobs and dulls the vibrations and allows for the famous Ford Frame Flex....

Just my .2

i have a single 3" setup custom made to exit in front of the rear tire on the pass. side with a super 44. sounds good and still has some pep even with stock gearing and bigger tires.

YouTube - Ford F150 with Flowmaster

sounds better in person ofcourse
