My 96 Ranger 4.0 5 speed cuts out when its' under any load. Its' not an even miss but kind of an erratic jerking. Keeping the RPMs up seems to help a little. I had a Ford dealership run a test and they came up with all these codes: P0340 P0401 P1405 P1443 . Does anyone know what they mean and if any of them would cause my problem. Thanks for any info.
The 0340 is a cam shaft positioning sensor code, 0401 is EGR, so is 1405 and 1443 is an EVAP one. You should run the pinpoint tests to determine the exact cause of the codes but the 0401 might be the DPFE sensor, 1405 a clogged line and the 1443 a bad valve or clogged line. Without running the pinpoint tests you can sepend a lot of $$$ replacing good stuff. My bet is the EGR problem is what you noticed
Make sure somebody hasn't installed Bosch plugs. I have a
1999 3.0L, and it had the exact symptoms. The previous owner
has installed Bosch plugs. I replaced them with Motorcraft, and
the "mis" problem was cured!!!
Thanks for interpreting the codes for me. I'll check into it a little further. I guess its also time to change the plugs. The truck has 128,000 miles and I think I changed them at about 80,000. They're just kind of a B to get to!
Posted earlier about my 4.0 cutting out. Replaced the plugs and plug wires and it runs like a Champ! Wires were no picnic to change, but well worth the trouble.
I've got a 2002 Ranger Edge and I want to know if anyone knows how to shut off the seatbelt indicator, I've had the truck for almost a year and I'm getting really sick of it dingging every time I get in, I know that you just push the seat belt plunger down but you have to do it everytime you start the truck. any help would be greatly appriecieated.
In your owners manual it will tell you how to stop the dinging when you don't wear your seatbelt. I refused to turn this off on the 2002 my girl drives because I want her to wear the belt.
