Me and my wife went on a local car cruise/car show yesterday (it started at 2pm and ended at 7pm). And there was probably about 3000+ cars or so. And I drove my ole rusty trusty 66 f100 and it was the ONLY one around. There was one guy that had a nice 71 f250 but that was it! Lots of 50s and earlier style pickups (ford and chebys).... I did have a few guys ask what year it was and a few thumbs ups as the day went on. But I guess I was really floored at my 66 being the only slick in the cruise! So my question is..... Are these trucks really that rare or what? I know another guy here in town that has a nice 64 that said he was going to bring his out but never did see him or his 64! So I was just wondering, how many slicks do you see at your local shows?
BTW I did love that fact that my 66 was the only one around!!
I dont see many around the local car shows... But, i do see many on the road still being used as work trucks or daily drivers. some days i see as many as 10 or more.

I do see a few on the roads as work trucks and what not, but now that I think about it Ive never seen one 61-66 f100 or 250 at any local car shows.
I always go wanting so see 50's and 60's trucks. There are usually a few, but they are few and far between. I think most people are interested in cars and not so much trucks at car shows.
I went to a small show yesterday. It had maybe 100+/- cars. I was really surprised that sitting between the muscle cars and and a few Deuces were a 1962 and two 1965's. I guess it's because I'm paying more attention since I picked up my '66 a few weeks ago. But now it seems like they're everywhere here in north Alabama. I saw two others while out on motorcycle ride Friday.
I see quite a few out and about around here, but not too many "show" trucks. Mine is certainly in no condition to win any trophies, but that was never my intent anyway. I don't have that kind of money....still waiting for some wealthy benefactor to feel sorry for me and give me $100,00.00 or so.....
I know of 3 guys that are into these. But you just dont see them much at shows.Even the all truck show there just arent many. And you dont see them as daily drivers much anymore.I had a 65 I drove for 5 years...man would I love to have that back.To think I sold it and could not wait ti be rid of it...
Most of these trucks are still "used" everyday and not many people with an old pickup can afford to restore them. I love the looks I get in my truck but I still dont know if its because its an old truck or its scary lol.

I think John Beresford Tipton, Jr. doesn't do that anymore.
as with the rest of the guys, they are all over this country. but have never seen one in the local car shows. was gonna put mine in this year but the hail storm fixed that problem. maybe next year if i can afford another paint job. dutch
